Where the name came from

A Name With a Story

My dad loved books. You weren't allowed to touch one in our house without washing your hands first. By the time I came along (child number five), he finally got his wish to name a daughter after a character in literature. Specifically, Cathy Earnshaw, from Emily Brontë's Wuthering Heights.

As a little girl, I introduced myself as "Cathy Earnshaw from Wuthering Heights." I thought it was a perfectly normal thing to say.

The name Celebrontë is one my husband and I cooked up between us. A celebrant, with a nod to Brontë, and to my favourite line from the book that I still think describes us pretty well: "Whatever souls are made of, his and mine are the same."

It seemed only right to build the business around that.

My journey to becoming a celebrant

From Boardroom to Beach Ceremony

I had a long corporate career in HR. The nice parts and the miserable parts, including a long stint heading up diversity and inclusion for a large organisation. Plenty of public speaking. A bit of local TV. A lot of working with people through some of the biggest moments of their working lives.

Having left the UK and leaving the corporate world behind, I wanted to do something completely different.

I'd already been a bride here three times myself (yes three all to the same wonderful man, a legal ceremony, a celebratory ceremony and a vow renewal in Croatia a few years ago). Finding someone who genuinely understood what we wanted for that renewal was harder than it should have been. We ended up writing most of it ourselves.

That sat with me. I figured if I'd needed it, other couples did too. I quietly thought. I could do this. And I'd love it.

So here we are. I left the laptop, kept the people part, and started writing ceremonies on the island of love.

My values

How I Like to Work

After years of building inclusive workplaces, I bring the same approach to every ceremony. Respect for all beliefs, backgrounds and love stories. No judgment, no pressure to conform. Whether you want a traditional religious feel or a celebration built around your favourite film, my role is to honour your choices and create a space where you feel completely yourself.

That's the bit I love most.

On The Day

A Few Things About Me

I live in Armou, near Paphos, with my husband. I'm Yorkshire-born and proud of the accent I once used to hide. I'm a bit of a magpie for new ideas and a little bit too keen on rearranging the house. We like entertaining. I've been told I cry at other people's weddings, which is probably a good sign in this line of work but I’ll try my best to not cry at yours.

Then you’ll have your unique ceremony. There will be love and heartfelt moments, laughter, and maybe even a few tears.

I think the best ceremonies feel less like performances and more like being wrapped in the people, memories and love that matter most.
